Wundtag – Encounters, Exchange and New Inspiration

Yesterday's WDM®-Wundtag Wien 2026 at the University of Vienna was a particularly enjoyable and valuable event for me.
I was very happy to reconnect with people I have known for some time while also making new contacts. I especially enjoyed exchanging ideas with other wound managers, who shared their experiences and perspectives.
I found the presentations and meeting the speakers particularly enriching. It was wonderful to hear speakers who clearly emphasised that, alongside excellent wound care, one thing remains at the centre of care: the quality of life of clients.
This approach is also of great importance to me in my work at WundPal.
I was also particularly interested in a topic that is becoming increasingly important for the future: Artificial Intelligence (AI). I find the possibilities of how AI could support wound management in the future very exciting.
An all-round successful day with valuable content, interesting encounters and many new ideas for my continuing journey with WundPal. 💗
Cold Plasma – Modern Technology with a Wide Range of Applications

Another modern technology has now been added to my equipment: cold plasma.
Cold plasma is used in various medical fields. These include, among others, the treatment of chronic and poorly healing wounds, infected wounds and skin conditions, as well as microbiologically contaminated skin, mucosal and tumour surfaces.
What I find particularly interesting is the combination of different effects: cold plasma can inactivate microorganisms while also supporting processes that are important for tissue regeneration and microcirculation.
Cold plasma can also be a complementary option in palliative care – for example, in certain open, tumour-related lesions where reducing microbial load, minimising odour and relieving pain are important goals.
Another advantage for both me and my clients: the application does not require any consumable materials. This means that neither I nor my clients incur additional costs for consumable materials.
For me, cold plasma is therefore an exciting addition that I would like to use selectively and according to the individual situation of my clients.

Doppler – Making Blood Flow Audible

A professional Doppler device is now also part of WundPal's equipment.
Doppler examination makes it possible to assess blood flow in the vessels. Particularly in people with chronic wounds, this information can be valuable for professional nursing assessment.
Together with the clinical assessment of the wound and other examination results, the information obtained can help to plan care in a more individualised way.
For me, this is another important element in providing professionally sound and comprehensive mobile wound care.
Doppler examination is a complementary assessment carried out as part of my professional nursing activities and does not replace a medical examination or diagnosis. In the case of abnormal or unclear findings, medical assessment is required.
ABI Measurement – Keeping an Eye on Circulation

Another important device has now become part of WundPal's equipment: an ABI measuring device for assessing arterial circulation in the legs.
The Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) can provide important indications of a possible circulatory disorder in the lower extremities and is therefore a valuable complementary assessment, particularly in wound management.
Especially in the case of chronic wounds, it is important not only to look at the wound itself, but also to keep an eye on circulation as an important prerequisite for wound healing.
I am pleased to be able to incorporate this option into my mobile wound care in a targeted way and thus make the assessment of each individual wound situation even more comprehensive.
ABI measurement serves as a nursing assessment and for monitoring progress. It does not replace a medical examination or diagnosis. Medical assessment remains necessary, particularly in the case of abnormal or unclear findings.
Modern Laser Technology for My Clients

I am very pleased: As of today, a Mecmedix laser system – the iLux Plus Laser – is part of my equipment.
The device enables targeted laser applications as part of wound care. The main focus is on supporting wound healing and relieving pain. Depending on the indication and treatment goal, there are also further possible applications.
What makes it special: This is not a small handheld laser device, but a professional medical laser system with touchscreen control, various emission modes and individually adjustable treatment protocols for different indications.
I look forward to incorporating this additional treatment option responsibly and purposefully into my work at WundPal.

The Journey to WundPal Begins!

After a period of grief and saying goodbye to my mother and my father-in-law, I have decided to continue pursuing my vision for WundPal.
Sometimes, it takes time to look ahead again. Now feels like the right moment for me to move forward, step by step, and turn my vision of professional wound care and palliative care in home care setting into reality.
One important step has already been completed: The company registration has been completed. WundPal has now officially begun its journey.
There is still a lot to do – but that is exactly what makes this journey so exciting. I look forward to developing WundPal further and sharing the next steps with you here.
